Super fun art with a super fun story to boot! These sweet-as-pie collage pieces are the invention of Erica Maule, a mother of four who couldn't find any appropriate, affordable pieces of artwork for her children's bedrooms. So what did she do? She started making her own! As it happens with ridiculously adorable things, it took off and Erica turned her passion into a business.

Big News! Show Pony Opening Second Store in Los Angeles.

We are very excited to announce our new shop on the hip W. 3rd Street in Los Angeles! That's right, beginning May 25th, we'll be treating lots of lovely Angelenos to the best Show Pony has to offer: Daly Bird, Rachael Ryen, Yed Omi, Tuesday Scarves, Prairie Underground, Suzabelle and many more, plus some gorgeous new lines of jewelry. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of the best designers in the Northwest and introduce them to our SoCal friends and customers. Don't worry, not much will be changing at our original Fremont location. Stephanie will still be commuting between stores, and we are pleased to introduce our new store manager, Madison Brewton. Madison (who is sometimes mistaken for Stephanie's sister!) is a longtime Show Pony customer and Fremont resident. She is full of positive energy, fantastic style, fun attitude and loads of creativity. She has a great background in fine arts/graphic design and a smiling face that we know will continue to make Show Pony the place you love for great customer service and killer style.

Ok, so who else stepped outside one morning this week and thought, "Oh my gosh, I wish I had a hat on!" There has been just enough of that little extra bite in the air to start thinking about haberdasherie, and if you said to yourself, "Oh my gosh, I wish I had a cute NEW hat to wear!" - well, that's even more fun.

You all know where this is going of course. We just happened to receive a wonderful new shipment of chapeaus from the San Diego Hat Co., a fantastic little operation based out of California that has been a trend-setter in headwear for more than a decade.

We love their simple cut-and-sew styles, either sharp and plain or embellished with buttons, bows and rosettes; wool felt fedoras that are perfect for the masculine look that's so hot right now, plus classic knit berets and caps. Is it a scarf? Is it a necklace? Who cares, it’s awesome! Saako, an international design label based in Barcelona, made its Show Pony debut last month and you all are so curious about it, we thought it was time for a little introduction and background.

The company was started by Ines Brito and Joana Gouveia, two young graphic designers from Portugal who wanted to apply their talents to showcasing the vibrant style and traditions of their native country with an ethos of sustainability. The result was a funky piece of neckwear using upcycled ribbed jersey fabrics from Portugal that are animated, cozy and fun to wear. Each one is made by hand by local women who take pride in the textile traditions of Portugal and Spain.

We love watching people put these on and transform an everyday outfit like jeans and a tee or leggings and a tunic into something a bit more interesting. One thing is for sure, people are going to want to touch these wherever you go, so be prepared!

Introducing Erika Lauren Jewelry

First of all: Wow. We are simply bowled over by a new collection of jewelry the likes of which we have never seen. Called the Eco-luxe Collection, Erika Lauren’s pieces were all born out of found materials, such as the brass bullet casings of her father’s antique gun collection, and from there explode is such a brilliant statement of color and creativity, it takes sustainable and eco-friendly to a place we never imagined it would go, like a vegetarian meal that somehow beats the pants off of any carnivorous feast you could ever have.

The Vancouver Island native incorporates metal hardware, colorful fibers and found gemstones (never mined) into designs that are edgy, bold and joyful. You can see hints of ‘70s boho, ‘80s glam and urban punk, but these pieces are altogether here, now and very classy. We hope you’re as excited by them as we are!

Happy September, everyone! Have you seen this month's issue of Seattle mag? It is so chock full of the latest and greatest of what the season has to offer, and guess what? We were thrilled to discover as we flipped through the pages that we just happen to be a one-stop shop for many of their great finds.

Starting with Daly Bird earrings--ahh, we're happy to say we knew her when. A sure-fire Show Pony favorite, the fabulous Ms. Tiffany Eley is certainly taking the world by storm with her super sexy metallic leather pieces. And you might recognize another of our staples on the cover, the ever-glamorous Tuesday Scarves, which move with us seamlessly from season to season. (We even have the exact scarf in stock that you see on the cover. Heck yeah!) To make this little accessory party complete, we just received a new shipment of those fanciful, darling Appetite bags. With sturdy but not too heavy materials and warm, whimsical designs, they're the perfect transition bag.
